Promoting academic competition as a tool for student success

DSQBA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering intellectual growth and teamwork among high school students through competitive academic tournaments. With a legacy of over 40 years in the El Paso region, DSQBA provides vital support to sustain and expand quiz bowl programs, locally known as High-Q, in West Texas and Southern New Mexico. By focusing on academic quiz bowl in our region we are able to help students have access to high-quality learning experiences via academic competition thus creating opportunities for students to develop the skills to improve their educational and economic prospects.

This academic school year will see five El Paso high school tournaments and our regional championship tournament with one new addition. A new invitational tournament will be held in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Teams from Southern and Eastern New Mexico as well as the El Paso region will be able to compete at this new competition site.

Non-profit Status

Is DSQBA a non-profit organization?

Yes, DSQBA (Desert Southwest Quiz Bowl Association) is a 501(c)(3)  and classified as a public charity under IRC Section 170 (b)(1)(A)(vi).

Donors can deduct contributions made to DSQBA under IRC Section 17

DSQBA is qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106 or 2522.
